The Earth Camp Conservation Program introduces high schoolers to the mission and the value of the National Forests. Students learn about animals and plants of the Sonoran Desert, forest resources and management, partake in meaningful on-the-ground restoration actions and gain new outdoor skills through hiking and camping.
Additionally, students have the opportunity to meet environmental professionals and explore careers in fire science, hydrology, forestry, and environmental education.
Students work directly with the Desert Museum staff and Arizona Conservation Corps on projects such as spring box construction, buffelgrass removal, and native plant restoration.
Through generous support from the National Forest Foundation, the Forest Service, the Arizona Game and Fish Heritage Fund, the Arconic Foundation, and the Rossetter Foundation, the Earth Camp Conservation Stewards program is continuing!
Individuals can also support this program to get more youth outside!
